Ploughshare tortoises access sexual maturity at 15-20 years previous. Mating takes place amongst Oct and February, but is most Regular in the course of November and December. Courtship is preceded by a duration of inter-male combat, during which males will ram their gular scutes into each other. The profitable male will sniff and circle the feminin
